We received our referral for Bai Hua on January 11, 2008. Below is some of the information from the files we received about her:
When she walks, her knees turn inward and her body sways. Under the education and guidance of her teachers, she can recognize more than a thousand Chinese characters, and she can do some simple math operations. She speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. She also really likes to sing, and her singing is very moving. She is very poised, and she often represents the orphanage children to give a speech or performance when the orphanage holds any kind of activity. She is very sensible. At home, she is always very good with the younger children and she gets along well with everyone. She helps the nannies do some tasks that are within her own abilities. She has good thought and morals and she is polite to others. When she sees a familiar person, she will always greet him on her own initiative.
When we asked her if she was happy about being adopted by a foreign family, her face lit up in a joyful smile and she said, “I want to have a real family.” “So, you will give up this place? Give up your nannies and friends here?” She thought about it and responded, “I am sad to leave, but even more I want my own family, my own mother and father.”
What a sweet young girl. I cannot wait to hear her sing. I have already talked with Aina Weaver about her singing with the COFCC Choir. It is my hope that she will be able to enjoy this. Who knows... perhaps one day we will see her perform a solo at a CNY event?!
That is it for now. I have to get ready for a seminar today. It is a workshop on parenting a "tween". I am looking forward to gaining some insights.
Next... a bit about the Shower that Barb S. is throwing for Bai Hua and our family. This is tomorrow and we are all looking forward to it. I have a surprise for Barb that should arrive today!
